WestWater have successfully won a tender with the Water Corporation for upgrades to the fluoride dosing system at the Thompson Street WTP in Esperance, Western Australia.

Esperance has a population of approximately 10,000 people, and the Thompson St WTP delivers the bulk of Esperance’s potable water supply from three local borefields.

Currently, the chemical dosing plant has been suffering from repeated High High fluoride alarms which interrupt production.

The works WestWater will be undertaking will consist of:

• Installation of a new clear solution tank alongside the existing fluoride saturator tank, as well as installation of decant pipework between the tanks.
• Installation of a new fluoride dosing cabinet, including replacement of the existing dosing pumps.
• Installation of a new retractable dose spear.
• Installation of all ancillary valving, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Modification of existing site control and SCADA system to allow for flow paced dosing capabilities.

These upgrades set out to achieve an increase in performance and reliability of the dosing plant going forward.

All aspects of the works will be completed in accordance with the Contract, relevant design standards, and Australian Standards.

The project is expected to reach Practical Completion by July 2025.
