Project Announcement – Fluorosilicic Acid Dosing Upgrade – WA

WestWater have successfully won a tender with the Water Corporation for the design, construction and installation of upgrades to the Fluorosilicic Acid (FSA) dosing facility at the South Coast Water Treatment Plant in Albany, Western Australia.

The existing FSA dosing facility has components that are at the end of their asset life and do not meet current Water Corporation design standards or Australian Standards. The South Coast WTP itself is 20 years old, and as such upgrades to the plant are required.

The upgrades to the FSA facility will consist of:

  • A new 17kL HDPE FSA Tank, complete with dual tank level indication
  • New Grundfos DDA dosing pumps
  • Conversion to new duty/standby dosing panels
  • Replacement of existing chemical pipework and valving
  • Installation of new chemical barrier protection

The upgrades will bring the plant in line with Water Corporation DS71 and DS79 Design Standard requirements, as well as AS3780 The Storage and Handling of Corrosive Substances, to ensure the plant is made safer to operate and maintain.

The project is expected to reach Practical Completion by April 2025.
