WestWater have successfully won a tender with the Water Corporation for the design and construction of modifications to the existing Laverton Water Treatment Plant onsite, including the installation of a new 500kL RO Unit and bypass pump station. The WTP is located just outside the town of Laverton, approximately 300km North-East of Kalgoorlie.
The water sources are of poor quality, requiring treatment and blending to achieve suitable targets for Nitrate, Salinity, Arsenic, Hardness and Pathogens. The groundwater is reliant on aperiodic rainfall, which has been reducing, and demand has rapidly increased due to local carting supplying mining operations and Aboriginal communities.
This project is considered an Emergency Project for the Water Corporation, as it is urgently required to ensure water demand at Laverton can be met over the 2022-2023 summer period, whilst also complying with ADWG limits.
The project is expected to reach Practical Completion by late-November 2022.
