Cutting edge off-grid ElectroChlorination facility in New Beith, QLD

 

The 20ML Round Mountain Reservoir in New Beith, QLD was brought into service in 2014 to provide drinking water for residents in the growing Flagstone, Yarrabilba, North Maclean, Spring Mountain and Woodhill region.

The ElectroChlorination facility is powered with 323 solar panels and a 95kWh capacity Tesla powerpack, making the facility the first of its kind in the country.

WestWater were awarded the contract to design, build, supply, install and commission the new ElectroChlorination system, which comprises of two 2.2kg/hr Hyprolyser ElectroChlorinators arranged as duty/duty to take advantage of solar power generation periods each day.

By utilising solar power and ElectroChlorination, the Council achieved some real environmental, social and economic benefits, which can be read in the Council’s full report.
