Challenge the client faced:
The Water Corporation conducted a chlorine decay analysis in December 2021 of the water supply from the Ellenbrook Storage Tank, and identified the need for additional chlorination to maintain effective chlorine residual within the supply to West Bullsbrook.
All chlorination options were considered, and on site Electro-chlorination was chosen due to the low chlorine demand of the scheme.
Solution provided:
WestWater have designed and installed a new Electro-chlorination module in West Bullsbrook.
The Electro-chlorination system is housed within a transportable building, and consists of:
- Two (2) Hyprolyser iSEC90 Electro-chlorination units, including brine tank, water softener, and chillers.
- 600L Sodium Hypochlorite storage tank
- Dosing panel with both high and low range dose pumps
- Sample system, including residual chlorine analysers; and
- Control & SCADA system for local and remote operation.
Conclusion / project outcome:
The new Electro-chlorination system produces 0.6% Sodium Hypochlorite solution, and operates automatically and independently to keep the product tank full of Sodium Hypochlorite.
The new plant provides drinking water to the town of Bullsbrook, supplied from the Ellenbrook Storage Tank, and chlorinates it to Water Corporation Water Quality Standards before discharging the water to existing Water Corporation network infrastructure.
