Emergency Shutdown Device Installations – WA

View Project PDF

WestWater have recently completed the design, supply, and installation of Emergency Shutdown Devices (ESD’s) across 10 gas chlorination facilities at Water Corporation dam sites in the Perth Metropolitan Area.

For this project, WestWater have installed our ChlorShield Electric ESD’s, which are designed to automatically close the primary isolation valves on chlorine gas containers (drums and/or cylinders) when a chlorine concentration of 5ppm or higher is detected within these chlorination facilities.

Some of these sites had large numbers of containers to shutdown (>10) so actuator marshalling cubicles were added to the ChlorShield standard installation design. This allowed for up to 12 containers to be closed by one (1) ChlorShield controller, reducing the cost and complexity of the installation.
