Project Announcement – Toowoomba Gas Chlorination Upgrades – QLD

WestWater have successfully won a tender with Fulton Hogan for the design, construction and installation of a gas chlorination upgrade for Toowoomba Councils Mt Kynoch Water Treatment Plant, located in Mt Kynoch, Queensland.

Mt Kynoch WTP is the main water source for the town of Toowoomba and surrounding areas. The WTP is undergoing an enhancement project executed by Fulton Hogan which in turn has the requirement to increase the capacity of the gas chlorination system and modify it in the following key areas:

  • Convert the existing 4 x 920kg high pressure chlorine gas drum storage/delivery arrangement over to a vacuum system
  • Convert the existing 4 x 920kg chlorine gas drum trolley system over to an electronic scale/trolley system.
  • Upsizing of 3 x Chlorinator/Ejector trains that feed North and South channels from 10kg/hr to 15kg/hr.
  • Upsizing of 2 x Chlorinator/Ejector trains that feed UV Disinfection from 20kg/hr to 40kg/hr.

WestWater in partnership with Fulton Hogan will deliver a high quality and safe solution for its valued client.

The project is expected to reach Practical Completion by August 2023.
