WestWater have successfully won a tender with the Water Corporation for the design and construction of a chlorine gas disinfection system, holding tank and associated pipework at the Wundowie WWTP to enable disinfection at the discharge of the existing Shire transfer pumps.
Other aspects of the scope include the modifications of the existing power supply to service the proposed chlorination module and the instrumentation additions to monitor the reuse dam and holding tank levels, and dam inflow and outflow throughout the process.
The Wundowie WWTP is an existing wastewater treatment plant located approximately 70km east of Perth. The existing WWTP consists of a pond treatment system with a treated effluent transfer pump station which disposes of treated effluent to the shire’s reuse storage dam. The shire’s existing infrastructure consists of the shire reuse storage dam, which is located to the north-east of the Wundowie WWTP, irrigation pump station and associated irrigation pipework, and a stormwater transfer pump station and transfer pipework.
The new asset will included a fully automatic treated wastewater reuse facility, consisting of a chlorination module, re-purposed chlorine holding tank at Wundowie Oval (allowing for 30mins of holding time), conveyance pipework and associated ancillaries. The new treated reuse facility will incorporate all improvements necessary for the Wundowie Recycling Scheme to comply with the Guidelines for the Non-Potable Uses of Recycled Water in WA.
All aspects of the works will be completed in accordance with the Contract, Water Corporation Standards and Australian Standards.
The project is expected to reach Practical Completion by March 2022.
